Safety Together
A safe space for students, parents, and educators to share tips on online safety, discuss cyber bullying prevention, and support each other.
What to do if someone shares your photo without permission
This happened to my friend and she didn't know what to do. You can report it directly to the platform, contact the school if it involves classmates, and in serious cases report to the police. You're not alone and it's NOT your fault.
Strong password tips that actually work for kids
I teach a simple trick to students: use a favourite song lyric and replace letters with numbers/symbols. E.g. 'I love pizza' becomes 'IL0v3P!zz@'. Makes it memorable but hard to guess!
Signs that your child is being cyber bullied
As a school counsellor, I've seen many cases go unnoticed because parents didn't recognize the signs. Look out for: sudden change in mood after using devices, avoiding school, becoming withdrawn, or refusing to talk about their online activities. Early intervention is key!
How do I talk to my child about online strangers?
My 10-year-old has started using online games and I'm worried about them chatting with strangers. Any tips on how to have that conversation without scaring them too much?
Should I monitor my teenager's social media?
My 15-year-old thinks I'm invading their privacy but I just want to keep them safe. What's the right balance between trust and safety? Would love to hear from other parents.
